Marcus Barthropp

Director of Corporate Finance

Marcus joined the Royal BC Museum finance department in January 2014 after serving as acting director since 2013. He brought a depth of experience in financial and staff management based on senior positions held during a long career in the BC government, as well as more recent consulting experience. He holds a BA from University of British Columbia and a Chartered Accountant designation.

As Director of Finance, Marcus provides leadership on capital and operating budget strategies, use of financial resources, and financial policy and procedures. He is responsible for financial reporting to the Royal BC Museum Board, executive team and operational staff, and to central government agencies including Office of the Comptroller General and Treasury Board. He also leads the annual external audit process and manages the museum’s financial operations.
