Steven Davies

Indigenous Learning Program Developer

Steven is a Coast Salish educator and filmmaker of Snuneymuxw and European-Canadian descent who was privileged to have been born and raised on the territories of the Lekwungen (now known as the Songhees and Esquimalt Peoples) and W̱SÁNEĆ Peoples, and the Salish Sea.

He carries a background as an artist, arts administrator, programmer, and mentor, and as a teacher of Indigenous youth and adults in tribal schools, public schools, and post-secondary.

Steven feels a huge responsibility to the artists, knowledge keepers, and cultural leaders that have mentored and supported his growth, including the late Ray Peters, J,SINTEN, TEMOSEN THUT, C-tasi:a, Laxiya, and Tutakwisnapšiƛ. Their trust and friendship, in addition to many others, have greatly enriched Steven’s life and artistic practice.
